You can learn more about each location (i.e. their functions, photos, and links to additional information) by clicking on their corresponding pin or selecting sections in the color-coded legend on the left side of the map. The sections follow the progression of nuclear materials from mining to weapons testing and delivery.
To access the map key, click the slider button on the upper left corner of the map.
The information in each map is based on a variety of vetted sources, including the Federation of Atomic Scientists, the Congressional Information Service, the Nuclear Threat Initiative, and reports from the Congressional Research Service. Other key sources include the Center for Non-Proliferation Studies, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the Atomic Heritage Foundation, the Monterey Institute of International Studies, GlobalSecurity.org, and the Wall Street Journal.
The maps are updated on a regular basis. Comments and suggestions for improvement should be emailed to Dr. Frank Settle (fsettle@wlu.edu). Any other questions about NPEC or its related activities should be emailed to admin@npolicy.org.
